Young and Star Saver Clubs
It is generally recognised that a basic financial education given during childhood provides important life skills and can help raise your childrens future aspirations.
We offer a savings account for all Young Savers, (e.g. children under the age of 18) across all of Berkshire.
We will accept deposits as small as £1 or more and this account comes with a guaranteed annual interest to all Young savers!
Every account must be opened with the agreement of a trustee aged over 18 such as a parent, guardian or grandparent who will have overall responsibility for managing the account until the child turns 18.
If you are interested contact us here.
Or complete the membership form and bring it into one of our contact points.

As a credit union we try to encourage young people to save money regularly. We have a project funded by The Earley Charity that allows us to work with over 9000 primary aged pupils across Reading and Wokingham Borough councils.
We have provided each school included in the project with lesson and assembly plans that are from Early Years to Year 6 (5 to 11 years old). Teachers can use these plans in any appropriate lesson as they cover the Maths and English curriculum as well as PSHE (Personal, Social, Heath Education) sessions. The aim is to teach children to understand money and how it is used ? to know what is meant by interest rate/APR, bank account, good and bad borrowing and importantly the difference between WANT and NEED.
Alongside the lessons each school runs as weekly StarSavers club where the pupils can save money. The StarSavers clubs are run by the pupils for the pupils, being involved with the club each child learns to work as part of a team, use basic accounting processes and record keeping.
Saving money regularly can of course be done with BERKSHIRE CREDIT UNION by anyone whatever their age (our youngest member is 5 months old), so if you or your child/ren would like to know more please contact here.
